Evaluation

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
For the newspaper we were creating a local newspaper and trying to produce and in much way replicate the local newspaper within our area. Within our research I looked at a national newspaper, to improve my knowledge of layout techniques within media. By getting a wider range on knowledge from my research help me to target a wider audience by including different techniques to my newspapers. We took techniques from the News Guardian has they have appealed to a wide audience through their website and the newspaper itself.
Depending of the type of the newspaper mainly depends on the time of the stories with it in, such as local newspaper try to just keep to just the news within that area, as it more personal for the public within that area, whereas The Time or The Sun has an wider range of stories which are link to people throughout the UK. When it comes to our newspaper we want to have a fair amount of both but at the same time we still wanted to keep it personal the public within area but add a new  effect local newspaper would do which was to have an few national stories that would appeal to people throughout all the UK. As all our stories were true stories and were based on the during main headlines in the news at the time, has help to improve our newspapers by have the information more interesting and appealing to many people and help to keep the newspaper as real was we could.
Also throughout the newspaper we keep the same style running through all the newspaper, website and poster. Therefore this makes our newspaper successful and similar to the original companies out there. It achieve this we used the same fonts, colour scheme and titles throughout, showing the reader the links between them all, e.g on all three ancillary tasks our masthead/title, ‘News Weekly’ was noticeable within it being in the same font and colour on all three ancillary tasks.
Overall I think our newspaper look realistic and appeal to the whole audience and by including selection parts from both local and national newspapers has help to improve our newspaper and make it more appeal to wider range. Within the newspaper, we included an main part of a national newspaper that many local newspapers wouldn’t use, which was to included an right hand side column that ran throughout every page in the newspaper and keep the same style and colour scheme within it, the other things that got changed on the other pages then the front cover was the stories and adverts that would be in it. On the front cover in the right hand side column, we included many headlines of stories that would be in the newspaper, which we thought would made the newspaper appeal to audience as it give the audience an understanding of what is in the paper itself. I strongly agree that it was important to include a balance of both types of papers, which I think we successful achieve in out newspaper. On the other hand we have to also try to keep the newspaper a little more to the local side, and we did this by including an range of different advert for local business such as So So hairdressers, by including this local advert shown the read that it is an local newspaper not just a other newspaper.
When it come to our poster and adding the techniques to it, we found it hard to get the quality we did within our other task, as we feel the website has let us down a little. The website we research was well layout and well presented, were as ours is a little basic and spread out a bit. I believe if we had a more of an understanding of how to use the programme, before starting on our website, it could have been better and to a better quality. Even though we used headline and stories from our newspaper, I believe the website would of linked a little more with the rest of the tasks we had to do. I feel on all newspaper website, the advert grad the reader’s attention more than the stories does, by the use of colours and style/fonts within them. Therefore I we didn’t included as many advert as original companies would, but we felt like we have to include some to make it more original.
I believe our poster is one of our strong parts throughout this as it eye catching and appealing to all, by the amount of detail within it. Our poster is different to other newspaper poster, was we had to advertise the newspaper and the area of it not just the story within it like many newspaper companies do. I feel the way in which we have advertise our newspaper is a better and more a appealing way then exist one out there, as I myself don’t really feel the headline poster boards are very appealing even though they aren’t used a lot. Within researching the poster, I felt that there wasn’t many to research and compare our poster to. Overall I feel it was an successful task and advertise our newspaper well and links great with the newspaper not just by the way we have kept the same font and title within it but how we have actually used our own newspaper that we had create to make our paper boat with.
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Throughout the making of our main product and ancillary text, we used the same colour scheme throughout it all. I felt that this worked well as it makes the product more original and shows the readers the links between all our pieces. The colour scheme we used, was an result from our survey, which help us to know that the colours would appeal to our readers. The colours scheme worked well as the blues linked with the area the coast and the red contrasts with the blue, which help us to headlight selection areas of our work. Throughout the product we kept with the same font and used the same title on all the tasks to some the connexion between all the pieces.
Throughout the making of the main task and the ancillary texts we sectioned a small amount of images and semictic images that we would use on all our peieces to keep the connexion and the same effect running throgh them all to show to our audinece that three pieces join together.

We linked the post with our other two piece with some things that would catch the readers eye and for them to grab striaght away what the poster goes with. We did this by including the newspaper company title on the bottom of the poster, but keeping it the same colours and front as the title on the newspaper and the website. Also we included the newspaper itself within the poster my making our paper boot out of our newspaper we had made, by doing this it the readers a little feel of what the newspaper is going to look like. It was quite hard to link the post to our other two piece as it didn't really include many pictures or text on as we wanted to keep it eye catching and basic for the readers to understand and read.

Whereas linking the poster and the website together was a lot easier as we we could include a bigger range of things on the website what would appeal to different readers, whereas the poster had to appeal to all our readers. There was many links throughout these two piece as they both included quite a lot of the same information such as stories, colour scheme, and a similar layout. With the website having to included two pages give us the opportunity to spread our information our more, but might we had to make sure we linked both pages together plus linked the two pages with the poster and the newspaper itself. The website included the same title as my newspaper but also have a similar layout due to the red lines to section out the stories. Both the newspaper and the website had the same photography on which shows a strong connexion between them.

If I would to redo this product, I would get more of an understanding of the software we would be using before starting on any of it, which would help us to layout out both our stories and photographies better. Both our main task and ancillary task were well linked together but i feel now looking back on my work I could of had a stronger link with my newspaper and poster if i had layout my poster in a different way.

What have you learned from your audience feedback?
We have achieved positive feedback and comments about our products, when asked to look and evaluation out products; we also asked them to compare it against other local newspapers.

"Your Newspaper has a similar layout to local newspaper within my area"
"Has a strong link with real companies local newspapers"

Overall we received positives feedback about our tasks and even though the website was the weakness part to our product we still achieved positive feedback from many.

"Your website has a real life effect to it"
"Great layout and colour scheme throughout your website"

Throughout the feedback, many people notice the amount of time and detail we had included with them. Many people was interested in the fact our local newspaper included many local news but also a few national news which made our newspaper different to many our local newspapers.

Even though some of our stories was aimed at them as a target audience themselves, they could see how we had to included many different types of stories to make sure our newspaper would appeal to all our audience in some way or another.
Overall our feedback was positive throughout, we know ourselves that there could still be changes and improvements to it, such as the website could of been improve but as we were working on an time scale, the improvements could not have been made due to the problems we had with the software.  Our timescale and weakness knowledges of the sortware we used for the website, didnt get in the way of the positive feedback we got for our audiences.
How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
Before starting on the task me and my partner both had experience using technologies, due to the tproject in the past.

Using Microsoft Publisher, we created all our computer version for our planning and drafts for most of our tasks and then when coming to our final piece over writing on top of our layouts as much as we can print screen our process while we went along. When using this software I felt comfortable using, as I have used it many times before, which might i had some kind experiences in it. We found it easy to place images and text boxes while creating our columns for the stories. Having this experience in this software was a useful tool to making an successful newspaper, as it helped to improve the quliaty the final piece and also by by having this experience improved my time scale. Even though i used Microsoft Publisher to create my task it, i used firework to edit and create my photograhpys for my final pieces.

In my research I used as much useful local products as I could, the aim was to create a local newspaper, poster advertising the newspaper and a two page website for the newspaper. Throughout the task I had to use a range of software’s for different part of the task, I used Macromedia Fireworks.

I used Macromedia firework to help we edit images and text for my research, planning and for the final product. I mainly used this software for create my poster, as I created my poster on this software as it was the best way to link both my background of the lighthouse and my paper boat together as it allowed you to overlap images and text. when making our poster we used a layering technique which was used to add brightness and colour to our photograhpys but also to set one picture above another to give a effect as if both pictures were taking as one. When using Firework it was difficult at the begining as didnt have much experience in it, but once using it more me and my partner find it easier to control and use.

The biggest part of the product I felt was using Microsoft Expression for the website, as this programme was new to me and my partner and we didn’t have enough knowledge about the programme to just get straight on with the task, which meant with the time we provide for creating our website had to increase to give us time to get our head around the tools in it. Once we got a little knowledge of the software we tried our best to create the Two page website that we had to create, one we got started with it by the end of creating the website we have an better understanding of how to use the software an little more.
With the planning I used information I found during my research time and also knowledge I have from last year media text.  We felt it would have been best to keep the target audience similar to usual newspaper companies. As with our survey we only asked our class mates their thought on local newspaper, we tried to included more similar stories and techniques as original newspaper companies to make sure our newspaper was targeted at all age range. Overall I think our product was an success and have allowed use to get an basic understanding of what it like in the real media career and we have hit all our aims in making an newspaper as we have included current news, local and national stories to be produced into on paper.

Poster Production

When coming up with our poster we decided to go with an similar style to one of the poster we had research. The one we linked was the paper aeroplane, which give use the idea of changing our newspaper into an paper boat, as with us basing our newspaper on the coast the paper boat fitted in well. We also included an background picture of the Whitley Bay lighthouse we set the full effect of the coast, which will give the readers an understand of where the newspaper is going to be set at. It took an while to come up with an slogan we were happy with, but the one we come up with fitted the poster well and got over point across in an few words. Also we included an sell line, which included all the information the readers need to no about the new local newspaper coming to their area. In the sell line we included the title of the newspaper and we kept the title the same style and colour as we had used on the website and the newspaper itself, well doing it help to show the similar characteristic as original newspaper companies.

Draft:

When it come to creating the poster, my partner made the paper boot, while i got an start on the editing the background image. When making the paper boat, she had to 'youtubed' a video clip, on how to fold the paper into the boat. After we had create the boat and had the background image edited, we just overlapped the two images placing the boat on top, to give the effect as a paper boat sailing the coast. With the slogan we tried to capture an message that can mean an range of different things but always links back to the news or day to day life issues. 'Lifes not always as peaceful as the beach' we went with this one as the images set the area it is localed in and then this powerful message captures arrange of different audiences depends on what the message means to them. The poster advert two key points about the task, as it included our newspaper and captures the area it is placed in.

Screen shots of the making of the poster:

Images - we took an picture of Whitley Bay Lighthouse and our own folder newspaper boat to create an similar poster to our draft above.

Slogan- The slogan front was created from a website that has an option of many fonts, which give up an wide range to pick from.

Final Poster:

Website Production

When creating our website pages we keep it to an similar layout of the News Guardians site, as we liked the fact it was basic but got all the information across it need to. Also as it was an local newspaper itself we could relate similar headlines and links. Even though we have kept with the basic layout of the News Guardians website,  we can tried to approach it in an different way by the way in which we have set our headlines and stories out. We have also decided to include an column down the right hand side that will included the weather forecast and adverts for local business and even adverts for our newspaper itself, which gives the reader the chance to contact the newspaper with their own stories. On the second page of the website we didn't need to come up with an plan as we decided we would keep everything the same on the pages apart from the main area were the news and headlines would go.
Draft:

When made the website itself, we have to create the layout an little bit as we found difficulties with the programme (Microsoft Expression Web 2). I found it difficult to use as it was new to myself and also to my partner, and was different to many other software's we have used in the past. Some of the problems that took it place was, inserting images rescaled or moved around the whole layout. Overall I feel the final piece looks similar to the way we wanted it to, although it took longer then we thought it would. In the future i feel if i have to create an other website, i would rather use an different software. We took screen shots of us while creating the website to show our regression throughout the product and also show how we had to insert all images and text into different boxes.

Final Design:

Throughout all out task we have tried to keep the same colour scheme and theme throughout. We find it easier to keep the same colour scheme on the newspaper and the website, but when it would to the poster we didn't really want to much colour in it so we only went with using blue in the poster. We also have kept the same front and title style throughout both the poster and the website, which help to link both of them together. With our research we find that original newspaper companies also link both their newspaper and website together.

Newspaper Production

We decided to made  our draft in Microsoft Publisher to gather an understanding on how to produces our final newspaper and how it would start to look. We started in add in anything we could, such as our own images, headlines and the layout of the newspaper, just to get the feel of the start of it. We made this draft to allow us to keep an fresh idea of our plan and let us refer back to it, when it come to creating the final piece.
First Draft

When coming to create the final piece we kept with the same headlines and title styles. We also kept with the same style/theme throughout the Newspapers. On the right hand side of the paper, we add an few headlights  which would link to the rest of the page inside of the paper, making the paper look more realise. We had to move around some of the stories to allow them to fit on the pages correctly with their columns, making them similar to to original newspapers. Through are research we got a change to see how many adverts and articles an original front cover and second page would include, which lead us to use 5 articles, which was luck for us fitted great in the space we planned on the layouts. Within the articles we decided to only use an few picture within the newspaper, as that the pictures didn't take our the articles themselves. We only added images to the main stories, grabbing the reader attentions. With the colour scheme we keep it simple and only added colours of blues and reds to capture an characteristics, also our advert linked within the colour scheme would made them go well with the rest of the newspaper. When placing our articles into the layout, we had to re size many of the boxes and move them around to fit all the stories in. We decided to add images to the main stories, as having images for all the stories could of made the pages to full with images and take the attention away from the newspaper and the news.

Planning for Images

Throughout all our tasks we used all our own images, meaning having to free time to go and get the photography's taking. We decided to take picture that linked to our newspaper and stories/articles. With the images we thought actually going to the place we were talking about in our stories and getting an picture to show the readers, such as Sainsbury and the improvements that were happening. For our poster we take an picture of Whitley Bay lighthouse, which linked the the theme within in the poster. For an few of our Adverts, we used ones which were out their which we had have permission to use them, such as my work logo and my parents family company. For other advert we just created with our own images we have taken, giving them an similar effect as original adverts.

Stories

When coming up with our newspaper we held an survey, which included questions that would help us with choosing the stories. We asked questions such as 'What would you expect to find in your local newspaper?' to give us an understanding of what most people notices within their local newspapers and what more people would rather have within their newspaper. We also asked them ' What would you like to be included in your local newspaper?' to give us an immediately understanding of what other things we could included in our newspaper but would still appeal to readers. From our results we find that many people would like the newspaper to included similar things as real newspaper companies use, but still to include one or two different things that, will make our newspaper different to the rest. While trying to relate our stories with similar topic range, we decide to produce stories that related to news at the present. After getting an understanding of what are targets audiences wanted within our newspaper we then started to research into current news and came up with stories that would appeal to most of our readers. We come up with a range of different ideas which is shown in the plans, but then we have to come up with our final ideas. We in the chosen we come up with, we included three local stories and two national stories.
Stories for our newspaper:
Local stories:
  • Sainsbury's - Refurbishment of the local store, explain the changes and how it will affect the local community
  • Transport fees (Metro)- Explain plans that will be put into place in the future
  • School - Current weather conditions damages the school, leading to closure of the school, leading much talking about the new building and problems with it.
National

  • University- Current rise to come to the university fees, explain the effect it has on the public and students
  • Tax bands- Many house tax band in the wrong band, explain how can change the band or get it check to see weather it in the right or wrong band.
Once we had come up with final stories for our newspaper, we then decide on how we would produce the stories.. We find the best way to do it was to spilt the stories up that we want to included in our newspaper. Giving an fair amount of stories each to done, but also making sure we were managing our time, giving us time to do our other tasks. We decide to do it this way, as it gives both of us chance to included our own research and thoughts in to the newspaper, making an little part of the newspaper our own. As a result we decide we would both write an local and national story each, meaning we would have to do two different types of research. My two articles were the new news about the wrong Tax bands and the damaged £21 million new school building within the area. Leaving my partner writing about the development plans for the metros and the university fees. Therefor it left us both writing about our local Sainsbury's refurbishments together.

My first story draft - Short story on tax band
What's Your Band?
'Many properties have been placed within the wrong council tax band. Council bands were based on what homes were sold for on a set date: properties within England were set on the 1st April 1991 and the 1st April 2003 for properties in Wales. Property owner’s can have the home tax band reviewed and could end up having a reduction and a refund on any difference due. There been a snapshot survey held by consumer champion website, finding that one out of seven properties, selected at random was placed in the wrong band, making a high per cent of 14 per cent of properties could have been placed in the wrong council tax band since the early 1990’s. Refunds on properties have been running into several thousand pounds and still more to come. You can check your council tax band on voa.gov.uk and find more information about inquiring about getting your tax band reviewed. Beware of getting your property reviewed as it cannot just lower your the band but could make it higher or just leave it unchanged. For more information telephone 0844 2380162.'

After getting it read through by an other person, I found out that i was missing the most important part that all newspaper use, which was anecdotes from local residents, but i felt that with this story it would be better to not included them. When coming up with this story, i wanted to include all the right information the readers would need to know, which meant i have to included website links and even a contact number.

Sainsbury's Interview Questions and Reply
As we have decide to include real life stories within our Newspaper, we throughout it would be good to include what is happening with their local supermarket. We decided to get in touch with Sainsbury's their self and ask if we would be able to hold an interview with them. Holding this interview with Sainsbury had made our Newspaper more realistic but including real life issues within our area. Within our interview with Sainsbury's we asked 9 questions, that we thought would be useful information our readers would like to read about, for explain  'would the in store prices increase to reimburse the building cost?' By asking questions and including information like this within our articles would grab the readers attention. Also by holding the interview with Sainsbury's give us chance to get the full understanding of what an real career in an newspaper would be like.

Sainsbury's story:
Sainsbury’s has undergone major construction in past months, remodelling the entire shop and extending on the original building. Due to the competition from other big supermarket chains nearby, Sainsbury’s felt that in this area they needed to increase their market share as it has the opportunity to receive a lot more business due to the fact they are situated in a catchment area. Their aim is to introduce non food products to the store for instance, clothing, entertainment, electrical, home ware etc. They believe that the sales potential from these new areas of retail could provide a greater profit.
To mirror the success to that of the Durham and Washington stores, they feel this well awaited 2 year extension plan will follow suit. Ensuring that the in store prices will stay the same therefore not reimbursing the building costs of the project. Increasing the store space an extra 10,000 square foot with the introduction of a mezanine floor added for even more space. Primarily seizing the opportunity within the area, aiming to boost profits of the store within the new areas of the store. With the inclusion of non food products they believe this will receive more interest from customers, made apparent from other local store figures.
But is this 10 million pound investment worth it? Many customers in the area like the familiarity of the store and although it is being updated, would like it to be kept the same. As it does not include the product ranges of clothing, electrical etc, it doesn’t tempt the consumer into buying other products and therefore allows the customer to get what they need and that’s it. Although this is obviously seen as strength to Sainsbury’s as it encourages them to buy more products with the new range being available.
Updating the image of Sainsbury’s is an extensive task, priding themselves on the quality of the company and their products they knew that this refit had to be done. Although reducing the car parking by 96 spaces was a big ask, as it caused disruption trying to relay the new spaces, the weather did not help with this phase. Keen to build a new image to the store the petrol station also undergone refurbishment, although cutting back on products in there, as they feel that there was an insufficient profit from the amount of items stocked. Much debated topic surrounding credit card machines and whether or not their will be the installment of ‘pay at the pump’, but we can confirm that there will be no credit card stalls at the petrol pumps as in their opinion it keeps the personal, friendly atmosphere.
Sainsbury’s is due for completion on the 23rd February, with a weeks closing from the 16th February. This ensures that they can complete the internal moves as the entire layout of the store is changing, and therefore would be unachievable if the store was open.

When changing our interview in to an newspaper story, we tried to arrange the story and information around and set it out the best we can without make it look like an interview. Within this story we wanted to included as much information as we could from the interview but also at the same time trying to keep it interesting for the readers  by catching in main/key information. Within this story we also tried to included all the general information the public would be asking themselves.

Monkseaton High School story:
£21 million down the drain !
On Sunday 28th November at approximately 3am, Monkseaton High School head teacher Dr Kelley was alerted by North Tyneside Council security that there was a problem in the building. Many members of staff were called into the school to find out that 3 of the 100 roof panels had been leaking leaving many areas of the school damaged by the amount of the water that had got in. Later on that day the architects come to assess the damage and put a time scale on how long the repair would take.
Due to the severe weather conditions earlier during that week it therefore put a hold on the repairs, as it wasn't safe for people to work on the roof. With the repairs on hold, it meant that Monkseaton High School would be closed for the week to all students and many members of stuffs.
Still after the week off, the roof has only got temporary replacement panels on. The permanent solution will be put in place during the Christmas break and assessed at the same time. This decision has been put in place for the student benefits meaning that there would be not more education loss due to the damage. Monkseaton High School feel that it is worth  noting that the work that has been done due to the damage has not cost anything to the school or council.

Within this story i wanted to capture the real effect that had happened to the school but i tried to keep the school from either forcing on disagreeing or agreeing with the new school. I wanted the story to include the damage to the school and the effect the weather has had on this band new £21 million school, but also capturing the developments that has taking place in getting the school repaired.
University fee's story:
Students face rise in tuition feesStudents will be forced to pay thousands more for their university education under proposals to raise the tuition fees. It has been reported that the student funding calls for universities to be left to decide what to charge.
A highly controversial option for the Government and in particular the explosive exposure for the Liberal Democrats, who campaigned against tuition fees during the General Election. Their favoured option of a graduate tax was ruled out by ministers as many classed it as unmanageable. An obvious radical change needs to be made to the funding system, with graduates paying a higher rate of interest on loans, more places being made available and universities effectively competing for students.
As a result many believe there shouldn't be a fixed price for higher education because all universities are different and provide a range of courses. Now pressure will be forced upon the university as they have to persuade the students that these charges for their choice of course represent the value for money. Therefore proving or having to improve their standards of teaching and that these admission costs are fair, as well as contributing more to supporting the students through different policies.
Under these plans, universities can start to vary what they charge but it will be up to students whether they choose the university. The money will follow the student who will follow the quality. The student is no longer taken for granted, the student is in charge.
Although a well awaited backlash over the increase in fees, became apparent through the many protests throughout the country by students. Forcing the decision that the criticisms of their recent promotion of this plan are in fact correct and that this idea would not be best pursued.
Metro fees:Time for change? With the newly modernised and updated stations along the metro routes, there are many more plans set to be completed. The plans are being split up into phases; the first and second phase have secured many investors and private developers, the proposed developments of the ‘all change programme’ is set to refurbish 90 metro stations and modernize 45 more, with structures such as bridges, tunnels and overhead power lines being looked at for repair and maintenance. Additional plans to meet other goals, for instance new park and ride facilities, doubling of lines and the rebuilding of stations, this being the second phase and is expected to cost £255.3 million, with this development already on its way to completion.
More plans are being added to list of ‘to dos’, and with the introduction of a third phase they are looking to secure funding for this. This will enable them to add a new fleet of metro car trains, a new signaling system and a new generation of ticket machines with more overhaul and maintenance of structures, track and overhead lines, and further station improvement that will be required. The reason why they are lacking this funding is due to the fact that the metro fleet will be almost 40 years old when replacement begins, even though from the original design the fleet had an expectancy of 30 years. Therefore due to the lack of funding plans are scheduled to start in 2019.
Although there has been suggested extensions and improvements in previous years that haven’t yet undergone any changes. For instance, in 2002, Nexus unveiled an expansion plan to extend the metro system by adding new sections using ‘street running’. This would provide a cost effective alternative to current metro services through areas that it doesn’t reach, using a high-end tram system. This plan listed a number of routes from; Tyne dock to east Bolden, Blyth and Ashington, Killingworth and Cramlington, to an entirely new track involving tunneling and bridging in the west end of Newcastle.
These plans would benefit the metro services greatly as these lines have the highest potential ridership, due to the struggle in gaining funding for this project and for the improvement of the existing system, these plans are highly unlikely to ever begin construction and if they were to be started will be in the long term. As a result the main aim and funding of public transport is geared towards the bus system instead of metros. With this in mind, many plans will not undergo development and the metro needs further backing from investors to complete these plans for improvement to make passengers journeys safer and easier.

We decide to include as advertisements for the readers and the public to included their story in the news paper. As with the newspaper being an new local newspaper, giving the public the chance to included their news and events in the newspaper, would help to grab the readers.

As we were basing our local newspaper on events and news that was taking place at the time, we find that some of the story were easy to get a hold of information's but on other hands such as the tax bands and university fees were hardier to, as news on them were changing during the several weeks.

Overall i believe that the stories were success and suitable for our newspaper and they fitted well with the news we were looking for. Also having taking part int he interview with Sainsbury's i feel that really helped us with our article on that story but it also give us an understanding of what it would be really like to having an invest and develop on real news and improvements.

Planning- Website

We started off our basic ideas for our website by hand drawing a few layouts, which linked back to our research. We started to include key features that were included in the websites we researched, such as a Mass heading. Out of the layout we did we chosen to go with the middle one, was it had a basic style to it, which most local newspaper website does. Also we link the fact that all the news and stories were down the left hand side and leaving the small column of the right hand side for advertisement for the newspaper and local business within the area.

After research two different types of newspaper poster, we decide to go with the second sets of poster. Within our posters draft we have tried to keep the the poster linking to the area it is based at e.g the sea front, Light house and fish and chips. We have also included an few poster that don't link with the area it based it but to show how things have changed throughout newspaper company's and style within them. (Layouts of poster below.)
Layout for Poster:

After coming up with an realisable amount of poster draft and quotes/slogans. We picked which two we liked the best and built on them, adding more details and the text box of where it will be placed. Giving us more of an understand of what the poster will look like. (Final two draft below)

Final to drafts:

Final Draft
Within the final draft we used images off google to get the basic idea of what it poster would look like and how the background and text would fit together. In our poster we will take our own photography trying to get them similar to the old is in the draft belong and make our own newspaper boat.
I like how it catchy but still links with the local area of the newspaper itself, by including an newspaper boat get across the meaning behind the poster, as it links to advertising the new local newspaper but also set the area it will be held in. The text is also catchy as links very well with the photography and style within it, but also shows that newspaper haven't also got peaceful and nice news within it, but it also includes the terrible news within the area.

With our poster draft we decided to change the front on the poster to make it more eye catch and appeal to a big range of audience. Also we have tried to have the newspaper title stand out more by having it in an different colour to the rest of the writing but linking with the colours in the background. We also kept the same font and colour of the title that we had on our newspaper itself, to show the link between them both.

Planning- Newspaper

We started our planning by forcing on the main task, which was to create a front  cover and a inside page for the page. We firstly started off by creating an page full of ideas to give us a rough idea of what they should included. By creating an page full of bullets points and note help to link our findings and research to our own newspaper and show us an clear link to making our work realistic.

Planning for the Newspaper itself

Layout for Front cover
Once we got an basic understanding of what we would included in our newspaper, we started to link of layouts. We created four hand drawn design for first ideas for the cover of the newspaper, which was quick and easy to produce but also to get an first idea if what the cover would look like. We finally decide that we would build up on idea number three, which we quickly started to building on with our computer version, which then even give us an better understand of what it would look like.

Layout for page 2
We also did four hand drawn design ideas for our inside page also, which was just as quick and easy has the cover page. The second page didn't really need as much information on it, which meet there was more space free on the page for adverts and smaller stories. We decided to go with idea one as it was  similar to other newspaper layout out.

Front cover and page 2 layout on computer
Planning for both the cover and inside page as an computer version, although we had come up with our own layout idea's we decided to take the same front as most newspaper companies use, which is 'Times New Roman' and trying to keep the same amount of advert we had on each page. Although many newspaper companies had an similar colour scheme we decide to go with the two most popular colours from our survey. We thought which have an main story, we should have an main image to go with it that would grab the readers attention more then the headlines would.
